Outdated TPMS tool software is the root cause of most of the technical support calls Schrader receives. Tool manufacturers use software updates to fix “bugs," improve tool performance and expand vehicle database. Keeping your TPMS tool up to date ensures you have access to the latest coverage, information and features.
Where to download the tool software update:
To update your TPMS tool, you need to have the correct software update from your tool manufacturer. On our website we list links to the most common TPMS tool software updates:
- Click the “programming tool updates” button at the bottom of our homepage
- Select the link that matches your TPMS tool brand
- Navigate to the website of the software manufacturer
- Download and install the software
How to install a software update on your TPMS tool:
After installing the software on your computer, open the application and connect the tool with the appropriate USB cable. Once the tool is connected, the program will recognize your tool and indicate that new software is available. If the application does not recognize the tool after connecting it to the computer, you may need to download a separate USB driver.
The application will recognize the serial number, license validity, and the status of your tool software. If a window pops up and says your tool is not registered, please fill out the registration page. If the registration page does not pop up, this means your tool is already registered. In this case you will only see a pop up that asks you to do a “Full Update” or “Synchronize Jobs.” Click on the "Full Update” button. Put the tool aside; make sure to keep the USB cable connected during the update. If the TPMS tool disconnects before the update is complete, reconnect your tool with the USB cable, and start the update again.
How to update tool software using Wi-Fi:
Another feature of newer TPMS tools like Schrader ST-1, S56, and S57 is the Wi-Fi update capability, which allows you to conveniently update the TPMS tool software with just one click. To connect a tool to the Wi-Fi, go into the settings menu and select the available network. Make sure you have good connection and your TPMS tool is fully charged to avoid aborting the software update.
Note that, if the tool’s software license validity has expired, you will not be able to run an update on your tool without renewing the software.
