Schrader History

Schrader, an aftermarket brand of Sensata Technologies, is the world-leading OE manufacturer of tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). The Schrader brand originally became famous in the early 1900s with the invention of the “Schrader valve”, the same pneumatic tyre valve found on most vehicles on the road today. Later, Schrader pioneered the tyre pressure monitoring system and created a sensor attached to the valve inside of the tyre that effectively measures tyre pressure and temperature.

Schrader brought its reputation of quality and innovation to the automotive aftermarket with the launch of the market's first universal, programmable EZ-sensor®. EZ-sensor® is Schrader’s second-generation programmable sensor, developed to match OE engineering and quality standards, supporting the latest generation auto-location technologies. Today, EZ-sensor® offers the highest coverage of newly registered vehicles worldwide.

Sensata Technologies, a world-leader in OE sensor and sensing technologies, acquired Schrader in 2015 and since then is heavily investing in further growth of TPMS technology. Sensata recently sold off Schrader’s valve business to align Schrader with Sensata’s existing vision, focusing on bringing the newest and best technology to the market.
