Proper tire pressure can reduce your carbon footprint. Properly inflated tires have a positive environmental impact by releasing less carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere through better fuel efficiency. A reduction in CO2 emissions contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Europeans drive an average of 13 300 kms / year. With an average of 2,3 kgs of CO2 emitted per liter of fuel ( 2,6 L for gasoline) consumed, European drivers release over 4,8 billions kgs of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. So, if properly inflated tires improve gas mileage by around 3.3%, the gallons you save will translate to reduced carbon emission from your vehicle as well.
